The Santa Monica Minute: Episode 15

Quick look at events taking place in and around Santa Monica College for the week of November 6, 2017.

To kick off this week, there will be a live open panel discussion event titled Black Minds Matter at the Business building room 111 on Monday, November 6th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

In the world of Corsair sports, the men's soccer team continue their pursuit of the conference title, as they will host the L.A. Mission Eagles at the Corsair Field on Tuesday, November 7th at 3:00 p.m. So make sure to come out and support our Corsairs.

On November 8th, Yasuni Man will make its premiere at the Laemmle Monica Film Center from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. This film discusses a tumultuous time in the Ecuadorian Amazon, with Native Americans, specifically the Waorani tribe, battling the oil industry in an effort to protect their land. Ticket prices for the event range from 15 dollars to 45 dollars.

On this same day, the city of Santa Monica will have a grand opening of Ice at Santa Monica on the corner of Fifth Street and Arizona Avenue from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m. There will be time to enjoy free ice skating, delicious food from local restaurants, and figure skating performances from some of the most elite athletes.

SMC will close out the Communication and Media series on November 9th with San Francisco Business Times Creative Director Michael Grant hosting a live discussion about his road to Journalism at the HSS building room 165 from 11:15 to 12:35 p.m. Make sure to tune to in.
