Trump Promises

Donald Trump played the role he had to to become President and he played it rather well. He prayed on the ill minds of middle America and manipulated them for their votes while never intending to do most of the things he promised during the race. Below is a breakdown of what Trump said before elected and what actually has happened thus far with the staff writer's take in between.

What Trump Said

The Writer's Take

What About Now?

1. “If I win I am going to instruct my Attorney General to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation.” He seconded that quote during a rally in Florida stating, “She deleted the emails, she has to go to jail!” -Trump

  1. On jailing Hillary Clinton (Seeing as though over 60 million people voted for Hillary Clinton, I don’t think a majority of Americans are seeking for the former candidate to face charges for deleting the 33,000 plus emails.) after being acquitted by the    F.B. I.
  1. “I don’t want to hurt the Clintons. I really don’t. She went through a lot. And suffered greatly in many different ways. And I am not looking to hurt them at all. So, whatever it’s worth, my attitude is strongly to go forward, we have so many different problems to solve. I don’t think we have to delve in the past” -Trump

2. ”We will build a great wall along the southern border, and Mexico will pay for the wall.” -Trump

2. Mexican Border (He plans on making Mexico pay for the wall by blocking the flow of payment from Mexico nationals working within the U.S. back to Mexico. But the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico consists of many terrains)

 2. ”For certain areas I would (consider a fence) but for certain areas a wall is more appropriate, I’m very good at this, it’s called construction.” -Trump

3. ”Donald J. Trump {I am} is calling for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our countries reps. can figure out what the hell is going on.” -Trump

3. Banning Muslims (This is very nostalgic of Hitler’s acts of discrimination against Jewish people in Germany. The fact that his remarks and plans are comparable to such a figure speaks volumes. His pushing of the boundaries of the first amendment is unfair to the respectable Muslim people of our country.)

3. Since being elected President of the U.S.Donald Trump has removed some policies including the ban of Muslims from the U.S. from his website.

“We have to repeal and replace the disaster known as ObamaCare. It is destroying our country, it’s destroying our businesses, small and big.” -Trump

4. ”Either they pay up including for past deficiencies or they have to get out and if it breaks up NATO, it breaks up NATO.” -Trump

4. Dismantling NATO (Countries within the NATO alliance agreed to spend at least 2% of their GDP on national defense but the U.S. just is one of five countries who met the minimum in 2016. Obama also spoke on the issue saying “The majority of allies are still not hitting that 2% mark, everybody’s gotta step up and everybody’s gotta do better.”

4. ”In my conversation with the President-Elect he expressed a great interest in maintaining our core strategic alliances. One of the messages I will be able to deliver is his (Trump) commitment to NATO and the Transatlantic Alliance.” - President Obama

5. ”The 45% tax is not a tax it is a threat, it will be  tax if they (China) doesn’t behave. Take China as an example, I have many friends great manufactures they want to go into China, they can’t China won’t let em’, It’s not free trade it’s stupid trade,” -Trump

5. Taxing China (The repercussions of instilling a 45% tax on imports would translate to a 45% increase on those goods in our market, making the U.S. dollar 45% less valuable than it was before. iPhone’s are assembled in China meaning the price of them would increase from the current $649 market price to over $940 which is absurd.)

5. Trump’s Financial advisor Wilbur Ross stated that Trump was misquoted and will not issue an additional tariff on China.

6. “If I have a to do and if it’s up to me I would absolutely bring back waterboarding and if it’s going to be tougher than waterboarding I would bring (that) back to.” -Trump

6. Bring back water boarding (Fellow Republican John McCain stated, “I don’t give damn what the president of the United States wants to do or anyone else wants to do, we will not waterboard.”

6. ”I’ve never found it to be useful,” (On waterboarding)

7. “We have to repeal and replace the disaster known as ObamaCare. It is destroying our country, it’s destroying our businesses, small and big.” -Trump

7. Get rid of ObamaCare (20 million plus people got health insurance who didn’t before through ObamaCare and it wouldn’t have been in the best interest to get rid of it completely.)

7. Trump emphasized that people with pre existing conditions will still  be covered under the repeal/replace he also stated that, “Children living with their parents for an extended period of time {we’re} going to very much try to keep that.” he went on to say “We are going to do it simultaneously, … we are not going to have a two day period or a two year period it will be repealed and replaced. It will be great healthcare for much less money.” - Trump
