Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights, an abortion rights activist group based in Los Angeles, California, protest at Dodger Stadium during the 1:00pm game vs. the New York Mets on Sunday, June 5. Starting at The Los Angeles State Historic Park, members began to assemble and coordinate the plan of attack for the peaceful protest they scheduled to execute at the beginning of the fourth inning of the game. After an hour of preparations, stickers were taped to bodies and the giant banner reading “Overturn Roe Hell No” was concealed carefully among a wheelchair that was used for entry among one of the members.
Entry into the stadium was surprising easy for all 10 members as they breezed right through checkpoints with zero knowledge of the hidden contraband. Arriving to their ticketed seats in the upper deck located above the third base line some members were set up to drop the banner, while others were strategically placed throughout the stadium to gain as much coverage as possible and toss stickers reading the same as the banner “Overturn Roe Hell No” on it. As soon as the third inning concluded, Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights members sprung into action by unfurling the large hand made banner that made its way easily down to the lower level. Standing four members wide approximately 2 feet apart, the group held the banner as long as possible before angry fans and security below ripped the banner from their stearn grips. All while that was occurring the scattered members throughout the crowd synchronously tossed the stickers which could be seen on national television floating down to the curious fans in the crowd below.
The peaceful protest lasted about 3 minutes in total before all members were eagerly pushed away by stadium security. The members involved were released after questioning and only received temporary stadium restrictions for their actions. The group believes that they did make an impact even though the display was cut short, commenting that a few news outlets and Verified sources chimed in to show their support towards the cause. The Supreme Court has yet to make their decision in overturning the federal case Roe Vs. Wade, until then there will be scenes of protest for Abortion Rights across the nation.
