More Apples, marijuana, parking permit
On Wednesday, a case of grand theft reportedly occurred at 5:15 p.m. in the library on the main campus. A student left an Apple Macbook Pro unattended on the second floor, and upon returning from the reference desk, found it missing. There were no witnesses, and there have been no recent developments.
Any item stolen that is valued over $950 is considered grand theft and if accused, a misdemeanor may be filed for violation of Penal Code 485 PC, California’s law that prohibits keeping property when there are clues identifying its true owner.
According to campus police officer Sgt. Jere Romano, there have been 15 reported cases of grand theft. The items included six bicycles, six laptops and three thefts from one individual including two cell phones and a backpack containing cash.
On Monday at around 4 p.m., an individual who was not a student was escorted off campus for allegedly making inappropriate remarks to a female student in the library. The suspect refused to leave the campus, and officers became involved after the female called campus police. The suspect was not arrested.
A parking permit sticker was stolen from a vehicle in structure number four on the main campus between the hours of twelve and one in the afternoon. The permit was quickly stolen without causing damage since the vehicle’s owner had applied the permit on the outside of the windshield.
A suspect was cited for possession of marijuana just before 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The suspect, not a student, was parked in a disabled parking space in structure three with a disabled placard allegedly not belonging to him. However, the suspect was only cited for possession.
